How To Make Tamarind Tofu Stir-Fry

Sweet and tangy tamarind sauce coating crispy tofu, stir-fried with mixed veggies, served with steamed rice.

Ingredients

  • 14 oz firm tofu
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 tbsp minced ginger
  • 2 tbsp tamarind concentrate
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp water
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Steamed rice to serve

Instructions

  1. Drain and press tofu to remove excess water, then cut into cubes.

  2. Heat oil in a wok or large pan over high heat.

  3. Add tofu cubes and cook until golden brown and crispy, stirring occasionally.

  4. Remove tofu from the pan and set aside.

  5. In the same pan, add garlic and ginger and cook until fragrant.

  6. Add sliced bell peppers and onion and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until slightly softened.

  7. In a small bowl, mix tamarind concentrate, soy sauce, honey, and water until well combined.

  8. Add the sauce to the pan and stir-fry until the veggies are coated.

  9. Add the crispy tofu back to the pan and toss well.

  10. Add salt and pepper to taste.

  11. Serve hot with steamed rice.
