How To Make Herring and Potato Skillet Recipe
A hearty, flavorful skillet dish featuring tender potatoes and tasty herring.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 4 small potatoes, peeled and sliced
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme
- 1 bay leaf
- 8 oz herring fillets, diced
- salt and black pepper to taste
- parsley for garnish
Instructions

Sauté potatoes in olive oil until lightly browned, about 5 minutes.

Add onion and garlic and cook until softened, about 3 minutes.

Stir in tomato paste, water, thyme, and bay leaf.

Simmer for 15-20 minutes until potatoes are tender and sauce has thickened.

Add diced herring fillets and cook 5 minutes more.

Season with salt and pepper to taste.
