Ingredients

  • 8 oz. herring fillets, skin removed and diced
  • 2 tbsp. diced shallots
  • 2 tbsp. chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 tbsp. chopped fresh chives
  • 1 tbsp. chopped capers
  • 1 tbsp. Dijon mustard
  • 2 tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix together the diced herring, shallots, parsley, chives, and capers.

  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the Dijon mustard, lemon juice, olive oil, salt, and pepper until well combined.

  3. Pour the dressing over the herring mixture and toss to coat.

  4. Divide the herring tartare among 4 plates and serve.
