Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup apples, peeled and diced
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan.

  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

  3. In a large bowl, mix together the melted butter and sugar until well combined.

  4. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.

  6. Fold in the diced apples and chopped walnuts, if using.

  7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.

  8. Bake for 55-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  9. Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
