Preparation: 15 minutes
Cooking: 0 minutes (chill time required)
Total: 15 minutes (plus chilling time)

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 2-4 tablespoons ice water

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the flour and salt. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or your hands until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  2. Gradually add the ice water, one tablespoon at a time, while stirring with a fork. Mix just until the dough comes together and can be formed into a ball. Add more water if needed.

  3. Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Shape it into a disk and wrap tightly in plastic wrap. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.

  4. When ready to use, let the dough sit at room temperature for a few minutes to soften slightly. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to fit your pie dish.

  5. Transfer the pie crust to the dish, press it gently against the bottom and sides, and trim any excess dough.

  6. Fill the pie crust with your desired filling and bake according to the recipe instructions.
