  • 250g all-purpose flour

  • 200g granulated sugar
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1 tbsp rum (optional)
  • A pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease and flour a round cake pan.

  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

  3. Add the egg yolks one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the rum if using.

  4. Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until just combined.

  5. Transfer the dough to the prepared cake pan, spreading it evenly.

  6. Using a fork, create a decorative pattern on the surface of the cake.

  7. Bake for about 40 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  8. Allow the cake to cool completely before serving.
