How To Make Fudgy Chocolate & Orange Gateau recipe

- 200g dark chocolate, chopped
- 150g unsalted butter
- 150g granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- Zest of 1 orange
- 75g all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp cocoa powder, for dusting
- Orange slices, for garnish
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and line an 8-inch round cake pan.

In a heatproof bowl, melt the dark chocolate and butter together over a pan of simmering water, stirring until smooth.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the sugar, eggs, and orange zest until well combined.

Gradually pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture, stirring continuously.

Sift in the flour and salt, folding gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula.

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

Allow the gateau to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Once cooled, dust with cocoa powder and garnish with orange slices before serving.
