- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp active dry yeast
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
-
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, yeast, and salt. Mix well.
-
Add the warm milk and melted butter to the dry ingredients. Stir until a soft dough forms.
-
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
-
Place the dough back into the bowl and cover with a clean kitchen towel. Let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
-
In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar and cinnamon.
-
Remove the risen dough from the bowl and divide it into small pieces, roughly the size of golf balls.
-
Dip each dough ball into the melted butter and then roll it in the cinnamon-sugar mixture, making sure to coat it well.
-
Arrange the coated dough balls in a greased baking dish, layering them evenly.
-
Pour any remaining melted butter and cinnamon-sugar mixture over the top of the dough.
-
Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until the monkey bread is golden brown and cooked through.
-
Remove from the oven and allow it to cool in the baking dish for a few minutes before serving.
-
Serve warm and enjoy!
