How To Make Apple Scones
Serves:
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, diced
- 1/2 cup diced apple
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
-
Add the cold butter to the dry ingredients and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut it until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
-
Stir in the diced apple.
-
In a separate bowl, mix together the milk and vanilla extract, then pour it into the dry ingredients.
-
Stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
-
Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and gently knead it a few times until it comes together.
-
Shape the dough into a circle, about 1-inch thick.
-
Use a sharp knife or a round biscuit cutter to cut the dough into scones.
-
Place the scones onto the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
-
Remove from the oven and allow them to cool slightly before serving.
