Preparation: 15 minutes
Cooking: 40 minutes
Total: 55 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 4 cups of thinly sliced apples
  • 1/4 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp of ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup of old-fashioned oats
  • 1/4 cup of packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup of cold unsalted butter, diced
  • Vanilla ice cream (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish.

  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, all-purpose flour, and ground cinnamon. Mix well to coat the apples evenly.

  3. Transfer the apple mixture to the greased baking dish, spreading it out evenly.

  4. In a separate bowl, combine the oats, brown sugar, and cold diced butter. Use your fingers or a pastry cutter to mix until it resembles coarse crumbs.

  5. Sprinkle the oat mixture evenly over the apple mixture in the baking dish.

  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown.

  7. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, if desired.
