Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.

  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt.

  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.

  6. In a small bowl, mix together 2 tbsp of sugar and 1 tbsp of cinnamon for the coating.

  7. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and then roll each ball in the cinnamon sugar mixture.

  8. Place the coated balls onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

  9. Bake for 10 minutes, or until lightly golden around the edges.

  10. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
