  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.

  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.

  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.

  6. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on a greased or lined baking sheet.

  7. Flatten each ball with the bottom of a glass or the palm of your hand.

  8. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.

  9. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
