How To Make Grandma Ruth’s Easy Snickerdoodle Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.

  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt.

  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.

  6. In a small bowl, mix together the 2 tbsp of granulated sugar and cinnamon.

  7. Shape the cookie dough into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter.

  8. Roll each dough ball in the cinnamon sugar mixture until coated all around.

  9. Place the coated dough balls onto a baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

  10. Bake for 10 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.

  11. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
