This bon bon cookie recipe is so versatile – you can use any fruits or nuts for the filling! I have fond memories of making these with my daughter and then my granddaughter.

Try these perfectly portioned little treats and have a blast while making them! It's easy to get creative with this simple recipe and yet you're assured that what comes out of the oven are still scrumptious dessert treats!

Total: 40 mins


  • ½ cup butter soft
  • ¾ cup powdered sugar sifted
  • 1 tbsp vanilla
  • 1 ½ cup flour sifted
  • tsp salt
  • food coloring if desired

Filling options:

  • Red Maraschino cherries chocolate chips, nuts.
  • Green Maraschino cherries chocolate chips, nuts.

Frosting options:

  • vanilla frosting softened, tinted half red and half green
  • cocoa powder


  1. Soften butter to room temperature.
  2. Mix the next 5 ingredients with the butter.
  3. Take about 1 inch of dough, roll a piece of fruit or nut in the center, and mold into a ball.
  4. Bake at 350 degrees F at 1 inch apart on an ungreased baking sheet for 12 to 15 minutes.

  5. When cooled, roll cookies in the softened frosting or cocoa powder.
