Ingredients
- 1 cup sour milk
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp ground cloves
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.

In a small bowl, combine the sour milk and baking soda. Let it sit for 5 minutes.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugars until light and fluffy.

Beat in the eggs, one at a time, and then add the vanilla extract.

Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the sour milk mixture, beginning and ending with the flour mixture.

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.

Bake for 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
