- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup unsweetened applesauce
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup water
- ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.

Add the applesauce, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix well until combined.

Gradually add the water to the batter, stirring until smooth.
