How To Make Apple and Honey Challah Recipe

This is a sweet twisted bread with chunks of soft apple and a touch of honey.

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup peeled, chopped apples

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine yeast and warm water. Let sit for 5 minutes.

  2. Add olive oil, beaten eggs, honey, and salt to the bowl and whisk together.

  3. Add flour to the bowl, mixing well until dough comes together.

  4. Knead dough on a floured surface for 5-10 minutes.

  5. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.

  6. Preheat oven to 375°F.

  7. Punch down dough and knead in chopped apples.

  8. Divide dough into 3 equal parts and roll into long ropes.

  9. Braid ropes and place on a greased baking sheet.

  10. Cover dough with a towel and let rise for 30 minutes.

  11. Brush top of bread with beaten egg and bake for 35 minutes or until golden brown.
