Preparation: 10 minutes
Cooking: 1 hour 30 minutes
Total: 1 hour 40 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs pork belly, sliced into thin strips
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup mirin
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ginger, grated
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, mirin, brown sugar, garlic, and ginger.

  2. Place the sliced pork belly in a ziplock bag and pour in the marinade mixture. Seal the bag and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Remove the pork belly from the marinade and cook in the skillet until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes per side.

  4. Pour the remaining marinade into the skillet and bring to a simmer. Cook for an additional 5 minutes to reduce the sauce slightly.

  5. Serve the Okinawa Shoyu Pork over steamed rice and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
