
How To Make Chef John’s Lasagna Recipe

Ingredients
- 9 lasagna noodles
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- Fresh basil leaves, for garnish
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.

In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Add the diced onion and minced garlic and cook until the onion is translucent.

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, basil, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

In a medium bowl, mix together the ricotta cheese and grated Parmesan cheese.

Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce in the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.

Arrange 3 lasagna noodles over the sauce, followed by a layer of the meat sauce, a layer of the ricotta cheese mixture, and a layer of mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers two more times.

Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.

Let the lasagna cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil leaves.
