How To Make Indonesian Satay Recipe

Juicy meat skewers with a spicy peanut sauce, a popular Indonesian dish.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken breast, cut into cubes
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 8-10 bamboo skewers
  • 1 cup peanut sauce (store-bought or homemade)

Instructions

  1. Soak bamboo skewers in water for at least 30 minutes.

  2. In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, coriander, cumin, turmeric, and vegetable oil.

  3. Add chicken to the marinade and stir to coat evenly.

  4. Thread chicken onto skewers.

  5. Preheat grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.

  6. Grill skewers for about 10 minutes, turning occasionally, until chicken is cooked through.

  7. Serve with peanut sauce.
