How To Make Indonesian Sambal Recipe

This fiery condiment is a blend of chilies, shallots, and tomatoes that adds a kick of spice and tang to any dish.

Ingredients

  • 10 red chilies, seeded and chopped
  • 4 shallots, peeled and chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, chopped
  • 2 medium-sized tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 tbsp of vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp of salt
  • 1 tbsp of palm sugar
  • 1 tbsp of lime juice

Instructions

  1. In a food processor, grind the chilies, shallots, garlic, and tomatoes until smooth.

  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat.

  3. Add the chili paste, salt, and palm sugar, and cook for 5-7 minutes until the mixture thickens and turns dark red.

  4. Remove from heat and stir in the lime juice.

  5. Serve as a condiment with rice dishes, noodles, or grilled meats.
