Preparation: 20 minutes
Cooking: 30 minutes
Total: 50 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 500g boneless chicken, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
  • 1 can (400g) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • Fresh cilantro, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the yogurt, lemon juice, ginger-garlic paste, cumin, coriander, turmeric, paprika, chili powder, and salt. Mix well.

  2. Add the chicken pieces to the marinade and coat them evenly. Let it marinate for 1-2 hours or overnight in the refrigerator.

  3. Preheat the grill or broiler. Cook the marinated chicken until it is slightly charred and cooked through. Set aside.

  4. In a large pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until it turns translucent.

  5. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the pan. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.

  6. Stir in the crushed tomatoes and cook for 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to blend and the sauce to thicken.

  7. Reduce the heat to low and stir in the heavy cream. Simmer for another 5 minutes.

  8. Add the cooked chicken pieces to the sauce and simmer for 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.

  9. Sprinkle the garam masala over the sauce and stir well. Cook for a final 2-3 minutes.

  10. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with rice or naan bread.
