Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups peeled, diced apples
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.

  2. In a separate bowl, beat together milk, egg, and vanilla.

  3. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix until just combined.

  4. Fold in diced apples.

  5. Heat 1/2 inch oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.

  6. Drop batter by spoonfuls into hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.

  7. Drain on paper towels and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
