How To Make Malaysian Roti Canai Recipe
A delicious flaky and layered flatbread, commonly found in Malaysia.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 2 cups of all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp of salt
- 2 tbsp of vegetable oil
- 3/4 cup of warm water
Instructions
-
In a mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, and vegetable oil. Mix well until the dough resembles breadcrumbs.
-
Gradually add warm water, kneading until dough is smooth and elastic. Coat the dough with vegetable oil and let it rest for 10 minutes.
-
Divide the dough into 8 equal parts and roll each into a ball. Flatten each ball with a rolling pin, then stretch it with your hands until it’s thin and almost transparent.
-
Fold the dough in a triangular shape, then roll it again.
-
Heat a pan over medium heat. Add a little bit of vegetable oil to the pan.
-
Cook each roti for about 2 minutes each side until golden brown. Serve hot with your favourite curry or chutney.
