How To Make Malaysian Chicken Satay Recipe

Ingredients

  • 500g chicken breast, cut into thin strips
  • 2 tbsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp cumin powder
  • 1 tbsp coriander powder
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 2 tbsp lemongrass, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp ginger, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp garlic, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp palm sugar
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • wooden skewers, soaked in water for at least 30 minutes
  • for peanut sauce:
  • 1 cup roasted peanuts, finely ground
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tbsp tamarind paste
  • 1 tbsp palm sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp chili flakes

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine all the marinade ingredients. Add chicken strips and mix well. Marinate for at least 30 minutes.

  2. Thread marinated chicken onto soaked wooden skewers.

  3. Preheat grill on high heat. Grill skewers for 3-4 minutes on each side until cooked through.

  4. In a saucepan, combine all peanut sauce ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer until sauce thickens.

  5. Serve chicken satay with peanut sauce.
