How To Make Nigella’s Chocolate Chip Cookies

Classic chocolate chip cookies with a crisp edge and a soft, chewy centre.

Ingredients

  • 125g unsalted butter, softened
  • 100g caster sugar
  • 75g light brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 egg, fridge-cold
  • 225g plain flour

  • Cream the butter, caster sugar, light brown sugar and vanilla extract together in a bowl until light and fluffy.

  • Beat in the egg.

  • In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, bicarbonate of soda and salt.

  • Add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture and mix until just combined.

  • Stir in the chocolate chips.

  • Using a cookie scoop or spoon, form the dough into balls and place onto the prepared baking tray, leaving space between each cookie.

  • Bake for 12-15 minutes until lightly golden.

  • Cool on the tray for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
