How To Make Michelle Bernstein’s Tres Leches Cake

A moist and decadent Latin American dessert soaked in three types of milk.

Ingredients

  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 can evaporated milk
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a baking dish.

  2. In a mixing bowl, beat eggs and sugar until light and fluffy.

  3. In a separate bowl, combine flour and baking powder. Gradually add to egg mixture.

  4. Stir in whole milk and vanilla extract.

  5. Pour batter into baking dish and bake for 30 minutes.

  6. In a separate bowl, mix together evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, and 1/4 cup of whole milk.

  7. Remove cake from oven and prick all over with a fork. Pour milk mixture over cake, letting it soak in.

  8. Refrigerate cake for at least 2 hours before serving.
