How To Make Liam’s Apple Pie Recipe
A delicious dessert made with sweet apples, warm spices and a flaky crust.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1/4 cup ice water
- 6 cups thinly sliced apples (about 6 medium apples)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp ground ginger
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter, cold and cubed
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
-
In a large bowl, combine flour and cubed butter. Use a pastry cutter or your hands to mix until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
-
Add ice water and knead until dough comes together. Divide the dough in half and shape into 2 discs. Wrap with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
-
In another bowl, mix sliced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and salt until well combined.
-
On a floured surface, roll out one disc of dough into a 12-inch circle. Transfer to a 9-inch pie dish. Add the apple mixture to the pie crust. Dot with butter.
-
Roll out the second disc of dough into a 12-inch circle. Use a pastry cutter or knife to cut strips of dough. Arrange the strips over the apple filling in a lattice pattern.
-
Brush the top of the pie with milk or egg wash.
-
Bake for 50 minutes, until the crust is golden brown and the apple filling is bubbling.
-
Cool for at least 20 minutes before serving.
