How To Make Furr’s Cafeteria’s Chicken and Dumplings Recipe
A comforting and hearty Southern classic with tender chicken and fluffy dumplings.

Ingredients
- 4 chicken thighs
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 3 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
Instructions

Season the chicken thighs with salt and pepper. In a large pot, melt the butter over medium-high heat and cook the chicken until browned on both sides. Remove the chicken and set aside.

Lower the heat to medium and add the onions and garlic to the same pot. Cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the chicken broth and thyme. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.

Add the chicken back into the pot and simmer covered for about 45 minutes.

In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Slowly add the milk while stirring until the dough forms.

Drop spoonfuls of the dough onto the simmering chicken and broth.

Cover and simmer for 15 minutes or until the dumplings are cooked through.

Sprinkle with parsley and serve hot.
