Fresh green beans cooked to perfection with just the right amount of seasoning, a classic side dish enjoyed by many.

Preparation: 10 minutes
Cooking: 20 minutes
Total: 30 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 4 cups water
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil.

  2. Add 2 teaspoons of salt to the boiling water.

  3. Add 1 pound of trimmed fresh green beans to the boiling water and cook for 7-8 minutes or until they are tender yet crisp.

  4. Drain the green beans and immediately transfer them to a bowl of ice water. This will stop the cooking process and help the green beans retain their crispness.

  5. Heat 2 tablespoons of butter in a large pan, add the green beans, and sprinkle with 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper.

  6. Sauté for a few minutes until the green beans are coated with the butter and heated through.

  7. Serve immediately.
