Ingredients

  • 1 lb fresh okra, cut into 1/2 inch pieces
  • 1 cup cornmeal

  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the cornmeal, flour, salt, garlic powder, paprika, and cayenne.

  2. Dip the okra pieces into the milk, then coat them in the cornmeal mixture.

  3. Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

  4. Add the coated okra to the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side.

  5. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the fried okra to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

  6. Serve hot and enjoy!
