How To Make Evelyn’s Chicken and Dumplings Recipe
A comforting dish with chicken, vegetables, and tender dumplings in a rich broth.

Ingredients
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 stalks celery, chopped
- 2 carrots, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 1 tsp thyme
- 1 bay leaf
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup milk
Instructions

In a large pot, cook chicken in butter until browned. Remove and set aside.

In the same pot, sauté onion, celery, carrots, and garlic until slightly softened.

Add chicken broth, thyme, bay leaf, and chicken. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes.

In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Add milk and mix until a dough is formed.

Drop spoonfuls of dough onto the top of the simmering chicken mixture.

Cover and simmer for 20 minutes or until the dumplings are cooked through.

Season with salt and pepper to taste and serve hot.
