  • 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust
  • 5 cups thinly sliced peeled apples
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, cut into small pieces

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.

  2. Place pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish.

  3. In a large bowl, mix together apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Pour mixture into pie crust, dot with butter.

  4. Cover pie with a second pie crust or cut lattice strips for a decorative top. Crimp edges to seal.

  5. Bake for 50 minutes or until crust is golden brown and filling is bubbly.

  6. Cool pie for at least 30 minutes before serving.
