Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 cup tomato puree
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Salt, to taste
  • Fresh cilantro, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, marinate the chicken pieces in yogurt, salt, and turmeric powder. Let it sit for 15 minutes.

  2. Heat butter and oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.

  3. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the pan and cook for another minute.

  4. In a small bowl, mix together garam masala, turmeric powder, paprika, cumin powder, and coriander powder. Add this spice mixture to the pan and cook for a minute until fragrant.

  5. Add the marinated chicken to the pan and cook until the chicken is browned on all sides.

  6. Stir in the tomato puree and cook for 5 minutes.

  7. Reduce the heat to low and stir in the heavy cream. Simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce has thickened.

  8. Season with salt to taste.

  9. Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.

  10. Serve with rice or naan bread.
