Ingredients

  • 2 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 package active dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 large egg
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.

  2. In a saucepan, heat milk, melted butter, and water until warm (around 120-130°F).

  3. Add the milk mixture and egg to the dry ingredients and beat well.

  4. Gradually add in the remaining flour until a soft dough forms.

  5. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  6. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 1 hour).

  7. Punch down the dough and roll it out into a 12×9-inch rectangle.

  8. Spread the softened butter over the dough and sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.

  9. Starting from the long side, roll up the dough tightly and pinch the seams to seal.

  10. Cut the roll into 12 equal slices and place them in a greased baking dish.

  11. Cover the rolls and let them rise again until doubled (about 30 minutes).

  12. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake the rolls for 20 minutes or until golden brown.

  13. Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving.
