Butter Swim Biscuits Recipe

Soft on the inside & crispy on the outside, these butter swim biscuits offer delicious bites, made with fluffy, butter-soaked dough.

Prep: 15 mins
Cook: 28 mins
Total: 43 mins
Makes:

Ingredients

  • cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp kosher salt
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • ½ cup butter, (1 stick) melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F.

  2. Add flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt to a medium bowl. Use a whisk to sift ingredients.
  3. Pour in the buttermilk and stir until mostly combined, being careful not to overwork the batter.
  4. Pour the melted butter into an 8x8-inch baking dish. Place the dough on top of the butter and use a spatula to evenly spread the dough out to the edges of the pan.

  5. Cut the unbaked dough into 9 squares. Bake for 28 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.

  6. Allow the butter to be absorbed into the biscuits before cutting and serving. Enjoy!
