Preparation: 15 minutes
Cooking: 15 minutes
Total: 30 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 4 large russet potatoes
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Peel the potatoes and grate them using a box grater or a food processor.

  2. Place the grated potatoes in a clean kitchen towel and squeeze out any excess moisture.

  3. In a large bowl, combine the grated potatoes, flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly combined.

  4. Heat vegetable oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat.

  5. Shape the potato mixture into small cylindrical shapes, about 1 inch in diameter.

  6. Carefully drop the tater tots into the hot oil and cook until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.

  7. Using a slotted spoon, transfer the cooked tater tots to a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.

  8. Serve the homemade tater tots hot with ketchup or your favorite dipping sauce.
