How To Make Whole Grain Rice Pilaf

Healthy and flavorful rice dish made with a mix of whole grains and spices.

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of mixed whole grains (brown rice, quinoa, barley, etc.)
  • 1 tbsp of olive oil
  • 1 tsp of cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp of coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp of salt
  • 2 cups of water

Instructions

  1. Wash the mixed whole grains and soak them in water for 30 minutes.

  2. Heat olive oil in a saucepan and add cumin seeds, coriander powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Cook for 30 seconds.

  3. Drain the mixed whole grains and add them to the saucepan. Stir well to coat the grains with the spices.

  4. Add water and bring to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and cover the saucepan. Cook for 40 minutes.

  5. Once cooked, turn off the heat and let the pilaf rest for 5 minutes before fluffing with a fork.

  6. Serve hot and garnish with fresh herbs (optional).
