Ingredients
- 1 cup grits
- 4 cups water
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 4 slices cooked bacon, crumbled
- 2 green onions, sliced
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions

In a medium saucepan, bring water to a boil. Gradually whisk in the grits and salt.

Reduce heat to low and cover the saucepan. Cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the grits are thick and creamy.

Stir in the butter and cheddar cheese until melted and well combined.

Remove from heat and season with salt and pepper to taste.

Serve the grits in bowls and top with crumbled bacon and sliced green onions.
