Taco Bell Quesadilla Sauce (Copycat) Recipe

Taco Bell Quesadilla Sauce (Copycat) Recipe

My love for Taco Bell chicken quesadilla runs so deep. Truth be told, you’d see me hitting the nearest Taco Bell drive-thru almost every day despite the seemingly endless line. Totally frustrating, I know. But after savoring the creaminess of their iconic Taco Bell quesadilla sauce, all my frustrations would instantly vanish like thin air. But still, multiple visits to this popular fast-food restaurant in just one week may be a bit much for me. So, imagine my delight when I discovered how to make their oh-so-delicious quesadilla sauce. That only means one thing: I can now whip up delicious quesadillas that taste just like the one from Taco Bell whenever I want!

Much like the popular Taco Bell creamy jalapeno sauce, my rendition also highlights the sour-spicy palate of jalapenos. You might notice that most copycat recipes of Taco Bell quesadilla sauce are leaning into pickled jalapenos. But just so you’re aware, there’s another food item that also brims with spicy and tangy flavors. Enter Tabasco Green Jalapeño Sauce, my go-to ingredient whenever my dish needs a jalapeño flavor. I used this green jalapeno hot sauce in my recipe, and the result is equally good.

I wouldn’t dare skimp out on sour cream and mayonnaise if I were you. The base of my copycat Taco Bell quesadilla sauce, similar to the original one, consists of these two pantry staples. Now, if the overwhelming taste of the mayo doesn’t appeal to you, you can tweak the ratios and start with half the amount. The same goes for sour cream. My Taco Bell hot sauce recipe is easily adjustable, so just toss in the amount of ingredients that’ll suit your taste preference. And if you’re trying to cut back on fat, I suggest using light sour cream.

To capture the spiciness of the original Taco Bell quesadilla sauce recipe, I added a few teaspoonfuls of flavorful seasoning. For the sake of ease and convenience, I opted for McCormick taco seasoning. It’s basically a concoction of various Mexican spices, including ground cumin, onion powder, garlic powder, and paprika. A dash of chili powder introduces a nice kick in my homemade quesadilla sauce recipe as well. Feel free to incorporate cayenne pepper, red pepper flakes, or diced jalapeno peppers if you like it EXTRA HOT. But if you’re a bit of a spicy wuss, then you can just leave them out.

Quesadillas are my favorite items on Taco Bell’s menu mainly because of their signature spicy and zesty sauce. Thankfully, making this tasty condiment from scratch is VERY easy. I simply combined all the ingredients in a small bowl, and my Taco Bell quesadilla sauce was ready to serve in just five minutes. If I were you, I’d be making a big batch as it can pair deliciously with just about any Mexican food. You can spread jalapeno sauce on your flour tortillas and make the best chicken quesadilla recipe. It can even be a pungent taco sauce for your fish tacos when it’s taco time. That, or you can enjoy it as a fabulous salad dressing, adding a serious punch to those greens.
