Ingredients

  • 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the tomato sauce, water, vinegar, lime juice, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using).

  2. Stir in the sugar and bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat.

  3. Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  4. Remove from heat and let cool before serving.

  5. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
