How To Make Twice-cooked Pork Belly with Cider Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds of pork belly, skin-on
  • 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
  • 1 cup of apple cider
  • 1/4 cup of soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon of ginger, grated
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Green onions, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Place the pork belly in a large pot of boiling water and cook for 30 minutes, until slightly tender.

  3. Remove the pork belly from the pot and pat it dry with paper towels.

  4. Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the pork belly on all sides until crispy and browned.

  5. In a separate saucepan, combine the apple cider, soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, and ginger. Bring to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes.

  6. Place the seared pork belly in a baking dish and pour the cider sauce over it.

  7. Cover the dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour.

  8. Remove the foil and continue to bake for another 30 minutes, basting the pork belly with the sauce occasionally.

  9. Remove the pork belly from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

  10. Serve the pork belly with the cider sauce drizzled on top and garnish with green onions.
