Ingredients

  • 400g prawns, peeled and deveined
  • 200g mushrooms, sliced
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1-inch ginger, grated
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp five-spice powder
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Spring onions, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, oyster sauce, five-spice powder, and cornstarch. Set aside.

  2. Heat vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat.

  3. Add garlic and ginger, sauté for a minute until fragrant.

  4. Add prawns and mushrooms, cook for 3-4 minutes until prawns turn pink and mushrooms are tender.

  5. Pour in the sauce mixture and stir well to coat the prawns and mushrooms.

  6. Cook for another 2 minutes, until the sauce thickens.

  7. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  8. Garnish with spring onions.

  9. Serve hot with steamed rice.
