Preparation: 15 minutes
Cooking: 30 minutes
Total: 45 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 4 sirloin steaks (about 6 ounces each)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 cup red wine
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Season the steaks generously with salt and pepper on both sides.

  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

  3. Add the steaks to the skillet and cook for 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or longer to your desired doneness.

  4. Remove the steaks from the skillet and set aside to rest.

  5. In the same skillet, add the diced onion and minced garlic. Cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.

  6. Pour in the red wine and beef broth, scraping the bottom of the skillet to release any browned bits.

  7. Bring the sauce to a simmer and cook for 10-15 minutes, or until it has reduced by about half.

  8. Stir in the butter until melted and incorporated into the sauce.

  9. Return the steaks to the skillet and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat through.

  10. Serve the steaks with the red wine sauce spooned over the top. Garnish with fresh parsley.
