Serves:
Ingredients
- 4 steaks (1 inch thick)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, finely diced
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 cup red wine
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Fresh parsley, for garnish
Instructions
-
Season the steaks with salt and pepper on both sides.
-
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
-
Add the steaks to the skillet and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or to your desired level of doneness. Remove the steaks from the skillet and set aside to rest.
-
In the same skillet, add the diced onion and minced garlic. Cook until softened and fragrant, about 2-3 minutes.
-
Pour in the red wine and beef broth, scraping the bottom of the skillet to release any browned bits.
-
Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it cook for 5-7 minutes, or until it has reduced by half.
-
Remove the skillet from the heat and stir in the butter until melted and incorporated into the sauce.
-
Slice the steaks and pour the red wine sauce over the top. Garnish with fresh parsley.
-
Serve the steak with your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes or roasted vegetables.
