  • 3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, sugar, yeast, and salt.

  2. Gradually add in the warm water and olive oil. Stir until a dough forms.

  3. Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic.

  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

  5. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

  6. Punch down the dough and press it into a deep dish pizza pan, covering the bottom and sides.

  7. Add your desired toppings and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.

  8. Let the pizza cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
