How To Make Ground Sausage Spaghetti

Ingredients

  • 8 oz ground sausage
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 8 oz spaghetti
  • grated parmesan cheese, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, cook the ground sausage over medium heat until browned. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

  2. In the same skillet, heat the olive oil. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, and cook until the onion is translucent.

  3. Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for 10 minutes.

  4. Meanwhile, cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain the spaghetti and set aside.

  5. Add the cooked ground sausage back into the skillet with the tomato mixture. Stir to combine and let it simmer for an additional 5 minutes.

  6. Serve the ground sausage sauce over the cooked spaghetti. Top with grated parmesan cheese.
