Ingredients

  • 1 can of black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 cup of cooked quinoa
  • 1/2 cup of bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup of finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for cooking
  • Burger buns
  • Toppings of choice (lettuce, tomato, onion, avocado, etc.)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mash the black beans with a fork or potato masher until thick and pasty.

  2. Add cooked quinoa, bread crumbs, onion, garlic, soy sauce, smoked paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper to the bowl. Mix well until combined.

  3. Shape the mixture into four patties, making sure they are compacted and hold together.

  4. Heat oil in a skillet or grill pan over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 5 minutes on each side, or until crispy and heated through.

  5. Toast the burger buns if desired. Serve the patties on the buns with your favorite toppings.
