  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 pound ground beef or pork
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Gradually add water and mix until a smooth dough forms. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until it becomes elastic. Cover with plastic wrap and let it rest for 15 minutes.

  2. In a separate bowl, mix together ground beef or pork, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper until well combined.

  3. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to a thin sheet about 1/8 inch thick. Using a round cookie cutter or a glass, cut out circles from the dough.

  4. Place about 1 teaspoon of the meat filling in the center of each dough circle. Fold the circle in half and pinch the edges together to seal the dumpling.

  5. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Drop the pelmeni into the boiling water and cook for about 5-7 minutes or until they float to the top.

  6. Using a slotted spoon, transfer the cooked pelmeni to a serving bowl. Serve hot with sour cream and melted butter.
