Ingredients

  • 8 slices of rye bread
  • 1/2 pound of sliced pastrami
  • 1 cup of sauerkraut, drained
  • 8 slices of Swiss cheese
  • 1/4 cup of Russian dressing
  • Butter, for spreading

Instructions

  1. Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.

  2. Spread butter on one side of each slice of rye bread.

  3. Place 4 slices of bread, buttered side down, on the skillet.

  4. Layer each slice of bread with pastrami, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and Russian dressing.

  5. Top with the remaining slices of bread, buttered side up.

  6. Cook the sandwiches for about 3-4 minutes on each side, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.

  7. Remove from the skillet and let cool for a minute before serving.

  8. Cut the sandwiches in half and serve warm.
